BECOMING A DRIVING INSTRUCTOR

To become a driving instructor, you have to pass three tests so it’s important you are trained by a specialist driving instructor training company such as ourselves. The qualifying examination to become a driving instructor is in three parts. The exams are conducted by the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). We will give you full training to prepare you for each test.

Part One - The Theory Test

This consists of 100 multiple-choice questions followed by a hazard perception test.

Part Two - Test Of Driving Ability

This is a practical driving test lasting one hour, in order to test your physical driving ability.

Part Three - Test Of Instructional Ability

An examiner from the DVSA will sit in the back of your tuition vehicle and observe you delivering a one hour driving lesson to a learner driver. The examiner will assess the quality of the lesson you deliver and decide whether you have achieved the standard required to pass the test.

You can train by a pay-as-you-go method (£45 per hour in Mansfield area or £40 in the Retford area or a one off fee of £1,760 (mansfield area) £1560 (Retford area)
. A £250 deposit secures your training place.

Once you have qualified you will earn £36 per hour per lesson. We will also help with the cost running of your business (car, fuel, insurance etc.) and you would be working with the area's leading driving school.

Help fund the course with a Professional Career Development Loan. These are bank loans to pay for courses and training that help with your career. These loans are usually offered at reduced interest rates and the government pays interest while you’re studying. Find out which banks offer the loan and order application pack by calling the National Careers Service on 0800 100 900; or have a look online by searching for ‘Professional and Career Development Loans’
Exam Fees:
  • Part One: £81.00
  • Part Two: £111.00
  • Part Three: £111.00
  • Final Registration Fee: £300
Once you have completed your part two exams and 40 hours of your part three training you can then EARN WHILE YOU LEARN with a trainee licence (more details on request).
